Orehovo – Revisted 3/9/15

The beautiful mountain town of Orehovo, Bulgaria was one of the first(so called) smaller destinations that we visited and added to NDN. It was stunning in its untouched and tradional look, but also the beauty it possesses!

There have been many changes to this great location and it has had its best year to date, with our promotional and advertising help, I hope, but will find out in due course?

For now it is just great to be back and to open my window this morning on the this great view!!

Plovdiv – Capital Of Culture 2019

The Independent Selection Panel responsible for assessing the Bulgarian cities competing to be European Capital of Culture in 2019 has recommended that Plovdiv should be awarded the title. the other three cities short-listed after the initial selection round in December 2013 were Sofia, Varna and Veliko Turnovo. The formal nomination of Plovdiv by the EU’s Council of Ministers took place in May 2015. They were awarded it and preparations have started.

I am convinced that the title will bring Plovdiv and its surrounding area significant long-term cultural, economic and social benefits, as we have seen with previous European Capitals of Culture.”
