SheTrades Global – Steals the show at IBF 2018

The IBF 2018 Liverpool was a great success, bringing businesses and organisations from around the world to the city.

There were several events held throughout the three week period under the umbrella of IBF 2018 in the  Exhibition Centre Liverpool. They covered a multitude of sectors, from Manufacturing to Travel, one of the successes was the Digital Transformation event, which was organised by Enterprise Europe Network.

BUT – The SheTrades Global event ‘stole the show’.

It was held over three days and included inspirational women (and few guys too) from around the world attending presentations, seminars and B2B meetings. The SheTrades Global (in partnership with the International Trade Centre) event was the busiest of all, filling the auditoriums with participants. It added enthusiasm, energy and colour to the venue and was without a doubt the stand-out success of IFB2018.

Halkidiki, Greece – latest destination to be added to NDN

Halkidik, Greece – latest destination to be added to NDN.

Halkidiki is a large mainland region of northern Greece, which is famous for its shape, as it has three peninsulas or ‘legs’ as they are better known. From west to east they are Kassandra, Sithonia and Athos. They used to be called ‘popular’ Kassandra, ‘peaceful’ Sithonia and ‘spiritual’ Athos, but they have all changed so much in recent years, they all offer a bit of everything.

The great thing about this region is that due to its geographical lay-out there is the main body of land and then the 3 legs, but they all have different terrains and atmospheres. It is sometimes said to be a ’mainland’ and 3 Islands, but actually they are all connected, especially through a system of excellent roads. Therefore, it is very popular for Fly-Drive Holidays and visitors from the rest of mainland Europe. (and closest to Thessaloniki, which is the 2nd biggest city in Greece and has a major International Airport.

Republic of North Macedonia

Greece has reached a deal on the name of its northern neighbour, which called itself Macedonia at the break-up of the former Yugoslavia.

After 27 years of talks – and many protests – they have settled on the name Republic of North Macedonia, or Severna Makedonija in Macedonian.

Greece had objected to the name Macedonia, fearing territorial claims on its eponymous northern region.

It had vetoed the neighbour’s bid to join Nato and the European Union.

The new name will now need to be approved by the Macedonian people and Greek parliament.

NDN is not commenting on the rights or wrongs of this decision, it is just circulating the news!

World Oceans Day

World Oceans Day

Today is the one day of the year that we should all consider what we are doing about our planet? Beaches are the most important part of this, as they are the first or last port-of-call for what we do? The rubbish we discard end up on beaches around the planet, not just the nearest ones to us!

Plastic, is chocking, blocking and killing our planet, so do your part, by reducing how much you buy that contains it? Especially water bottles, which is the worst of all products.

If you want to go one step further, get involved in; beach-clean-ups, street cleans or litter-less schemes, just because others are lazy, ignorant and selfish, does not mean we all have to be!!

Great involved, in whichever way we can!

Its the people you meet – Greek Tourism Promotion Visit

Anyone who travels for a living, on their holidays or just on weekend break, knows its the people you meet, that makes it special!

The attractions, venues, views, experiences, culture, food and drink are great, but its the people who create the the fun, happiness, conversations and interaction that lives in your memories and heart forever!

Throughout NDN’s latest trip – The Greek Tourism Promotion Visit  (Thessaloniki, Limnos Island and Halkidiki) from the first day to the last, the people that got involved were exceptional in every way. Not just for their friendship and hospitality, but for allowing themselves to show the love they have for their region and the genuine desire to show it off to the world.

A massive THANK YOU goes out to everyone involved and needless to say, after people read all the Blogs, Social Media Posts and NDN Circulations, they must feel the warmth of the people and the splendour of the destinations, so it will definitely make them want to visit.

For more information, contact us or the below organisers of the 3 sections of the visit; (Thessaloniki) (Limnos Island) (Halkidiki)

Halkidiki Tourism Promotion Visit reaches Kassandra

The third ‘leg’ of the Halkidiki Tourism Promotion Visit reaches Kassandra. Rita Koniali (from Kassandra Municipality) showed some of her and the regions best places to visit, particularly in Nea Fokea and Afytos. The sites included Sanctuary  of Zeus Ammon, Byzantine Tower of St Paul and Crypt of Apostle Paul. The crypt is a great little adventure, as you have to crawl down the narrow tunnel (which was his hiding place) to get to a small alter, but it means people can bless themselves in the natural spring opening (holy water).

The village square, which is not far away, is a lovely looking area with traditional buildings, monuments and restaurants. One particular restaurant, Masalia, is extremely popular as it grows some of its own food and sources the rest from local suppliers. This was a great location to have a business lunch with Rita and Maria Papadimitriou, who is responsible for the tourism promotion in the region.

A great way to finish the day was in Aftos, which is the most popular area for tourists. The houses, shops and restaurants are ‘protected’ so that the area cannot grow past its present boundary and the buildings must remain of traditional design. It extends to the edge of ‘the rock’ as it is known, where there is a promenade full of restaurants, all with stunning views of the Toroneos Gulf.

One of the best hotels in the region is the Blue Bay Hotel, with its; pool, spa, balcony’s with sea views, high quality rooms, excellent restaurant and top class customer service.

This region is growing as a Wedding Destination, as it has stunning views, brilliant beaches, perfect weather, quality food and drink. The best part is that the Municipality deal with all the official parts and do it in a very personal and professional way (that’s another one of Rita’s jobs).

Everyone in this region has a genuine love for it and wants to show it off to the world and you can see why, so go and see why for yourselves.

Halkidiki Tourism Promotion Visit – Sets Sail

After a great morning with the Manti family at MANTH cottage/farm, the group went to one of Sithonia’s best Marina’s for a ‘Sunset Cruise’ with Sailman Yacht Chartering, arranged through Grek Addict Travel Designers in Greece.

A luxury sailing yacht cruise with food, wine and great company finished off the day in a perfect way, with stunning sun-set.

As a perfect combination the accommodation was in the cliff-top Sea view Studios & Suites of Thalassokipos and evening meal was in the Aristos Sea Food Restaurant with Maria Christara and colleague from Sithonia Tourism Organisation.

Halkidiki Tourism Promotion Visit moves to Sithonia

Leaving Athos behind (the 3rd leg of Halkidiki – as it is known), the visit moves to Sithonia the middle or second leg of the region!

The visit starts in Kalives and maybe the best afternoon of the whole trip so far. The group enjoyed a great experience with the Manti family and staff, who let visitors get involved in their family farm business of food production (MANTH). Activities included getting up, close and personal with all the animals, including one very cute baby rabbit. A unique experience of helping them tend to the ‘bee hives’, finding the ‘queen bee’, removing infected bees and collecting the honey. Even managed to see a bee hatching from its egg! A tour of the Olive Plantation and seeing how the process gets the oil to the table was enjoyable too.

Then the best part, a lunch made-up of all the produce that the group had seen throughout the morning, which included the honey, olive oil, bread, cheese, salad, vegetable, fish, meat, wine, ouzo and some delightful home made desserts too (plus a marmite moment – try – Maztixa, a healthy tree-sap product, spooned into a glass of cold water – I liked it).

This really is was an authentic experience and one that will live in the memory for many years, so it has to be at the top of everyone’s list who visits the region. ‘From Earth To Table’ would be good way to describe it, but adding the warmth, friendship and hospitality of the hosts makes it a real Greek Family/Farm Experience.

Ammouliani Island – Next stop on Halkidiki Tourism Promotion Visit

Ammouliani Island is a charming piece of land floating on the Aegean Sea. Great views of Mount Athos & the mainland, plus only a 10 minute and 2 Euro ferry journey away.

Turquoise waters, sandy beaches (which there are many), choice of accommodation styles, swimming, diving, fishing, walking, museum, cultural events, character filled main square, plus great people, food and drink.

Some visitors go a day, some for a couple of them, others do the whole 14 day holiday experience, but a number stay for 3/4 weeks at a time, to totally de:stress from the pressures of life by relaxing and reenergising there.

The Sunrise Hotel is a great choice of venue; centrally placed, quality rooms and this family run accommodation has great food, drink and hospitality too.

The Municipality and Business Association are always looking for collaboration, investment and networking opportunities with interested parties.

‘A small island – a great time’.

Halkidiki Tourism Promotion Visit Reaches Mount Athos

Mount Athos, one of the most famous religious places in the world, is a most see place, unless with special permission, only viewable by sea. Any of the many cruises is a great experience, Athos Sea Cruises being one of the best, with commentary about the area and a chance to see all the amazing Monasteries on the mount.

The port town of Ouranoupoli, where the boats leave from, is lovely with place, with bars, restaurants and shops. It also has Zygou Monastery remains, which are still revealing items even today, plus the Tower in the harbour too.

Another, worth a look, is the 3D Exhibition Centre in the regions capital, Lerissos, which is also a great place to find very reasonable priced accommodation, plus great bars, restaurants clubs.

The Municipality of Aristotle, Halkidiki are always looking for collaboration with organisations worldwide. so Lefteris Valsamis or Maria Adamidou would love to hear from you.     Read more

Olympiada Village, Halkidiki – Start of Tourism Promotional Visit

The Halkidiki Tourism Promotional Visit starts in Olympiada Village with a tour of Ancient City of Stagira, the birth place (and maybe burial place) of the great philosopher ARISTOTLE.

Then a fun and interesting visit to Aristotle’s Park where people of all ages can enjoy seeing and using instruments and structures, which were invented or discovered by the great man.

The Liotopi Hotel is a great venue, as it is located near to the ‘ancient city and by the port, but it is famous for its hospitality. The owner Louloudia and staff, pride themselves on a genuine welcome and the food is superb. All locally produced and served with professionalism and warmth (similar to being served high-tea in the UK).

The same family also own the Akroyali Restaurant, which serves a delightful range of Greek food and specialises  in fish, which as it is located on the sea front, you would expect. Dimitris the owner will ensure a professional welcome, with some real funny humor too (he is also a great guide of the ancient city too!).

Great day and fantastic start to this Halkidiki Tourism Promotional Visit.

Limnos Island – Old and New

The people of Limnos are what makes it special. Their genuine desire to show the world what thier Island has can be seen and felt at every meeting and event. They know it is ‘Indescribable’, so know it has to be seen to be experienced and believed.
From having the ‘Oldest’ ever-known parliament in the world, to being the ‘Newest’ place to be, Limnos people know what they have, now its your turn to find out?
